They (India) have a really good lower-order and we’re going to be pushed by that, McDonald said on Monday on SEN Radio. “Their (India’s) lower-order batting is also going to be a difference in this series in (Ravindra) Jadeja, (Axar) Patel and (Ravichandran) Ashwin.”

We need to figure out how to break even in that sense since they will undoubtedly have more runs available to their lower order than we have.

“I believe you start to become lost if you start to shift and alter radically and too rapidly. Though we are realistic and aware that the series consists of four tests, it is clear that we are upset with our first-up performance,” McDonald added.

“We still believe that the planning and preparation that went into it will succeed, and we have some excellent players in the locker room who can put us back on the right track.

McDonald acknowledged that Australia’s disastrous first-innings performance in Nagpur left them badly down and unable to catch up.
